Shamanic practice is the practice of deliberately connecting with ‘non-ordinary reality’ for guidance, power, and healing. Non-ordinary reality (NOR) allows you to see, hear, smell, feel, and touch what others are unaware of, utilizing your sixth sense at its highest level. It is opening to the flow of the Universe and connecting to the Life-force energy all around you. Meditating is a way to connect with non-ordinary reality.
Some people choose not to acknowledge NOR and recognize only ‘ordinary reality.’ This individual is perhaps missing the rich variations of existence. They may feel their life is drab and uninspiring. They are seeing only the tip of the iceberg. They often suffer from much pain, misery, and frustration, an unnecessary state of existence.
Then there are those who choose to live only in the spiritual, possibly believing they are truly an enlightened being. However, without the grounding roots of Ordinary Reality, they are oblivious to the rest of the land-scape, the integration of complex thoughts, ideas, and concepts. They may appear a bit spacey.
